PROGRAMMING DESCRIPTIONS:

CEA’s Social Media Training Series includes 3 distinct programs:

PROGRAM TOPIC: Twitter

Description: Twitter is a form of blogging, called micro-blogging. Although it started out as a way for people to answer the simple question “What are you doing?” tweeters are evolving and starting to harness this platform as a means of broadcasting important, timely and interesting information to the masses, beyond “I am eating chocolate ice cream with Cynthia.” Even more than just disseminating information, Twitter can help you establish beneficial and meaningful relationships, which is truly the ultimate goal of social media in the first place. Although some would contend that there is no wrong way to use Twitter for a business, CEA definitely feels there are good ways of using Twitter and not-so-good ways. Learn tips on how to start, how to gain followers, how to be taken seriously, what to talk about and how Twitter can be used to benefit you and your business!

Approximately 3 hours

PROGRAM TOPIC: Facebook

Description: Facebook has completely blown up across all demographics. Long gone are the days of “Oh Facebook is a kid thing. Who has time for it all?” People make time for things that are important to them. And, what is more important than family and friends? I mean honestly, connecting with people, all be it, it is on the computer and not face-to-face, it’s a very rewarding and useful tool of communication for millions. Typically, Facebook is looked at as a deeper level of connection in that most groups and networks include people that you know, have met, or know through others – very rarely are “friends” complete strangers when it comes to an individual’s account. Knowing that, businesses have to “BE” more personal, less stodgy and not as corporate; you have to make your brand/company approachable, meaningful, interesting and fun! That’s easier said than done of course! We will walk you through the basics of Facebook and offer pointers on how to engage and build a community.

Approximately 3 hours

PROGRAM TOPIC: Overview: LinkedIn, YouTube, Flickr and Blogs

Description: There are a lot of social media sites and social opportunities popping up, but there are 3 additional websites that we feel are extremely important for businesses to understand: LinkedIn, YouTube and Flickr. LinkedIn specifically is built for professionals and businesses. It’s a great tool to promote your company and personal brand, as well as enhance your business and individual expertise, possibly even to help establish you as an authority within a certain topic or industry. With social media, it’s all about content and that’s where YouTube and Flickr come in. A great way to make content interesting, and help it spread virally, is to include video and photos. These are extremely important tools if you really want your campaign to take off. Moreover, blogs can be a bit intimidating to some. We’ll walk you through the logistics and help explain what’s involved with managing a blog.
