How Twitter is Enhancing Your Images

How Twitter is Enhancing Your Images

In 2014, tweets with images received almost 20% more clicks, 89% more favorites and 150% more retweets. This really shouldn’t come as a surprise since we are hardwired to see images first and engage with them on a more personal level than text. However, many marketers are missing this crucial piece of content marketing. For those that do avidly use images on Twitter, we have some good news. Twitter has just announced in December 2015 that they are launching a richer photo experience for users across the platform.

So what does this mean for your marketing strategy? It means if you haven’t been using very many images, you should definitely start! Continuing to use recommended best practices for your social images is still crucial to capturing the attention of followers. Now, Twitter has made your images more user-friendly and possibly more appealing. Here’s how:

Expanded Images

Finally, we can show off our images in their full form! Rather than automatically cropping images to fit the recommended 1024×512 pixel size, Twitter is now expanding the image so that users don’t have to click on it to view the rest. Below is an example.

Multi-photo Displays

Like Facebook, Twitter will now be displaying your multi-image tweets in a more appealing format. The new layout shows much more of your photos and displays them in a larger format.

While Twitter began as an all-text platform, the growth of rich media has required them to step up their game and enhance what has now become an element that is essential to every user’s experience.
