Content Marketing Tips To Live By

Content is king in online marketing. You know how amazing your product is and what it can do for others, so let’s make sure others know what you have to offer! Here are 3 content marketing tips that I stand by when creating attention-grabbing content for our clients:

The 5 to 5,000 Rule

While this isn’t a coined term in the content marketing world, it is a tried and true method that I’ve used over the years when creating content for social media, blogs, websites, and email marketing campaigns. The trick is this; when creating content for your marketing piece, write it like it is only going to 5 people who don’t know anything about your brand product, or service. You should add the same value for those five people as you would if you were writing to 5,000 people. This helps you connect with them on a more personal level and get your message out without missing any crucial information. Try it out for yourself and apply it to your next blog post, social post, or comments for that matter.

Give them Direction

Crafting your call-to-action is likely the most important element in your content creation. It’s an elegant dance between drawing attention to it and letting it flow with the direction that content has taken it. The fact is, most of the time, you have to tell the person ready what you want them to do. They don’t realize it, but they actually need you to tell them what’s next. My favorite Steve Jobs quote puts it best, “A lot of times, people don’t know what they want until you show it to them.” While he is speaking about product innovation, this theory can also relate to content creation.

Consistency is Key

Simply put, you have to be in it to win it. Posting on a regular basis is a must if you want your content to reach a large amount of people and generate engagement. If you have just began posting for your brand, don’t expect a lot of attention over night. It takes several posts on the necessary mediums to reach an audience and gain a following. Think about it, you didn’t start following your favorite artist back when they were playing out their garage did you? They had to consistently produce great music to get noticed and they finally hit it big because they had something great to offer!

As mentioned at the beginning, we know your product or service helps others. Now, the trick is to communicate that to your ideal customer clearly, show them where they can find it, and consistently send the message that you have what they are looking for!
