The Importance of Instagram

We live in a time where keeping up with the latest trends in social media platforms goes hand in hand with keeping up with latest in marketing strategies. This is why it is pertinent to understand the influence that an Instagram account can have for your company and your brand.

You may think to yourself, “Isn’t Instagram only for young millennials who post selfies and pictures of food?” Although there are many personal accounts on Instagram, they do not make up the entirety of over 100 million daily active users. That is not the only shocking number, to date over 30 billion (yes, billion) photos have been shared to Instagram. Keep in mind Instagram was only recently introduced in 2010. This 6-year-old social media platform has clearly grown exponentially and will continue to grow. Instagram is an incredible outlet to build a clear representation of your brand through vivid graphics. Consumers are craving visual marketing; they want to see your company or product illustrated in a way that is unique to your brand.

Now that you know all of the facts about Instagram, here are a few tips to make your company and Instagram feed stand out.

 

  1. Create fresh content. You know your brand has a lot to offer, and so should the rest of the world! Strive to create content that showcases your brands personality. If you only show one aspect of your company, then it is likely that your followers will get bored and find a brand that has more to offer.

 

  1. Pick a theme for your feed and stick to it. Instagram is essentially a photo diary for your brand. Try to pick a color scheme, photo idea, or photo style to share so that it creates a cohesive on your feed. By doing this, you are ensuring a clean feed that previous followers can easily “read” and that potential followers will be drawn to. Apps like VSCO cam make it easy to edit your photos similarly and preview how they will look on your Instagram.

 

  1. Engage with your audience. The nature of Instagram makes it incredibly easy to engage with your fans. If someone tags your brand in a photo, it is essential that you take two seconds out of your day to double-tap their picture. Doing this shows that your brand cares and will instantly make your audience appreciate you more. Take the extra step to comment on a fans picture and you will create a personal bond with your audience that will not go unnoticed.

 

  1. Stay active. This is probably the most important tip when it comes to being successful on Instagram. Consistency is key, if your followers see you aren’t actively posting then they will not stay. On top of this, it is crucial to stay up to date on trends and hashtags to make sure your posts are relevant to what your followers want.
